Maniesh Paul Opens Up About Working Under the Directorial Vision of David Dhawan in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Recalls Watching the Classic Judwaa in his Earlier Days

Maniesh Paul is geared up to tickle the funny bones of the audience yet again with David Dhawan’s upcoming film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. During the film’s trailer launch event, the actor recalled watching the ace filmmaker’s Judwaa in his earlier days, and expressed gratitude about coming far enough to lead the upcoming rom-com.

Sharing a wholesome anecdote from the sets and his experience of working with David Dhawan, Maniesh Paul says, “He is one of the biggest directors in the history of Indian cinema. What’s special about him is that he himself gives a call to the actors, asking them to arrive on set. It hasn’t happened that someone from the team might call. I remember I was shooting somewhere else when I received a call from David sir. He said ‘Maniesh, kidhar hai?’ and when I said I’m shooting elsewhere, he said, ‘Haan, tu Mehboob Studios pahaunch.’ When I informed him again, he said ’Arey main tujhe call kar raha hu. Tu pahaunch.’ I reached the location, and he got me done with three scenes altogether. But I think that’s incredible and everyone needs to learn that!”

The actor looked back at his earlier days and spoke about the time when he’d purchased a film ticket to watch the iconic Judwaa. “I have loved working in the film. I don’t think much – Malviya Nagar se aaya hoon Delhi se. I have purchased tickets in black to watch David Dhawan’s Judwaa. And today, I’ve had the opportunity to work in the film of the legendary director himself. Isse bada kuch ho hi nahi sakta!”

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai trailer is out, and Maniesh Paul simply peppers the plot with his quirks and spot-on comic timings like always. When it comes to comedy, Maniesh Paul is the secret ingredient who cooks up a blockbuster, and his admirers are eager to see what’s to unfold!

Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai brings together Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur and Maniesh Paul under one roof for the first time. Billed as a hilarious rom-com, the film is scheduled to land on the big screens on June 5
